All of our rentals, except the Papaya Suite, have a private washer and dryer. We provide detergent. So if you are staying in our Down Yonder Villa, Garden Suite at Chocolate Hole, Penthouse, Honeymoon Suite or Hibiscus Suite, you have a private washer and dryer.

We recently returned from a trip to St John staying in the Hibiscus Suite. This is a repeat trip for us staying with Brittany and team at Island Abodes- our first at the Hibiscus Suite. The place was amazing!!! Furnished just like home with amazing views from both the kitchen and patio as well as the bedroom. Nothing beats enjoying that first cup of coffee watching the sun rise or a nice cold beverage in the evening watching the sunset before heading into town for dinner. The Island Abodes team is great to work with- very welcoming, quickly responsive to questions or needs, and open to giving recommendations of must-sees or dos! We just left the Down Yonder Pool Villa and it was a wonderful 8 nights. The pictures on the website are completely accurate, but walking in the first day it was even better than expected. The view was even better too, especially at sunset. Everything we could possibly need was in the house including snacks and water to start us off. Both bedrooms, each with a king bed were really comfortable. The house was very clean and inviting. Brittany and the entire island abodes team was informative and helpful right from the start. She supplied all the information we needed for our stay. Brittany also made sure to help me get a surprise birthday cake ordered and delivered from Kenisha’s Island Delights (it was really good). Beach chairs and coolers were supplied and when one of the beach chairs broke I contacted Brittany and it was replaced with new ones that same day. We had a great experience and would definitely stay with Island Abodes again!read more

We visited St. John for a week in July and had a fabulous time! Island Abodes was easy to work with and very accommodating. We hoped to book the Penthouse for 7 nights, but it was not available for our first night. We were able to stay in the Honeymoon Suite first and they transferred our belongings for us to the Penthouse the next day. It worked out perfectly! Both suites were very clean and well equipped with anything you might need. The view is beautiful and the location is great if you want to be close to everything in Cruz Bay. My only regret is we spent so much time exploring the island, we didn't get to spend as much time in the Penthouse! We wish we could have stayed longer. While not our first time in St. John, it was our first time to stay on the island. We are officially hooked and hope to return and stay with Island Abodes again!read more

And the villa was equipped with many kid friendly items that were so amazing to have when traveling with our 2.5 year old. The house was spacious and very comfortable and the pool was wonderful to take a dip in every day after coming back from the beach. Large and comfortable apartment with a super comfy king bed. Super clean and has everything you need. The screened outside area was an unexpected bonus. I spent most of my time in the outside living room. Every night brings the most gorgeous sunsets on island. Brittany and Robert and amazing and attentive hosts. We just spent 10 nights/ 9 days at the beautiful Down Yonder Pool Villa with stunning views of Chocolate Hole and amazing privacy. Brittany and Robert thought of everything for our stay. They provided beach chairs for four people, beach towels, bug spray, sunscreen, coolers, cups, coffee, spices, etc., etc. I could go on and on as everything was provided. I highly recommend this place for a stay on beautiful St. John. The villa is a short few minutes drive to downtown Cruz bay. We followed Brittany's recommendation for renting a jeep which we used daily to take us to the many bays on St. John. We snorkeled , swam, and used the 2 paddleboards we had rented from Lucy at www.sup-stjohn.com. If you want to rent paddleboards this is the perfect place as Lucy personally delivered and picked them up directly at our villa. She also provided all the roof mounting straps, paddles, lifejackets, and ankle leashes. Brittany also suggested we use Carol with Smile Taxi at smiletaxi@aol.com for our private transfer from the St. Thomas airport to the Red Hook Ferry Dock and back again. Carol was the best providing us with an abundance of information and history of many places we passed in St. Thomas including many real stories of being on island during the 2 devastating hurricanes Irma and Maria. Brittany and Robert provided valuable information and suggestions while staying at the Villa involving use of air conditioning, water conservation, power, keeping mosquitos and other island insects at bay. Please follow these suggestions and you should have a perfect stay. Brittany and Robert are very quick to respond to any issues including being at the villa within minutes if needed. We would definitely stay here again!read more

I recently returned from a 6-day stay at the Hibiscus Suite. Walking into the Hibiscus Suite, I could not help but walk straight through the kitchen onto the screened-in porch. The view of Cruz Bay was fantastic! We spent every night on the porch taking in the night-lights and sounds. The day bed on the porch was an added bonus! Everything about our stay was fantastic. Brittany provided a comprehensive information booklet, which gave detailed directions to the suite, information about parking, directions on how to use the TV and appliances, and even ways to prevent ants. Both check-in and check-out were super easy. Everything in the complex was clean and well maintained. It was nice to have shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, and bug spray provided. We just left St. John after staying in the Honeymoon Suite at Island Abodes. The Honeymoon suite was compact but perfect for just the two of us. The screened porch and attached deck provided an excellent view of Cruz Bay and a perfect place to watch the sunset. The efficiency kitchen (small refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave) allowed us to eat breakfast before heading to the beach. We ate on the deck one evening after ordering take out from Sam & Jack's. The room was clean and clearly had been updated since the storms. There was some construction noise but that is common throughout the island and by evening was gone. Self check-in/out was easy and Brittany even allowed us to check in early since no one was in the suite before us. We will definitely consider booking again.read more

We had the pleasure of staying at both the Down Yonder Pool villa and the Honeymoon Suite during our visit. The Down Yonder Pool villa is perfectly equipped with necessities for cooking a meal, down to the the luxury of having beach chairs, sunscreen and bug spray. It was also nice having Keurig coffee pods provided for coffee every morning. The villa was spotless and Brittany responded within 15 minutes every time I had a question about anything on island. The Honeymoon Suite is budget friendly and chic! We loved the screened in porch and the sunset at both places were to die for. We had the luxury of getting to spend some time with Brittany, Robert and RJ at a birthday party at the Penthouse and that unit had just been completely renovated and it was absolutely stunning down to the furnishings and all. Their family is so sweet and all their friends made us feel welcome at a party that was just for their friends/family but they choose to include us since we were staying right next door! We stayed in Down Yonder Pool Villa in July 2018. It was our second stay at Down Yonder (1st stay was February 2017), and we loved it again! The house could not be better for either couples traveling together or a family. The first time we visited with another couple. This time we brought our 2 kids with us. Having the large great room and kitchen that open up directly out on to the pool deck and patio is a perfect set up! The kids literally ran from the great room to a cannonball into the pool as soon as we arrived! The bedrooms are both large and comfortable (the AC works REALLY well in the bedrooms and the great room), both bathrooms are large, there is a full size washer dryer, the kitchen is MORE than completely equipped, and there are plenty of beach accessories to borrow. They even stock plenty of beach towels and tons of sunscreen and bug spray for guests to use. They have really thought of everything! We loved hanging out on the patio watching the view of the water, and the kids were really happy with the Roku streaming TV (we visited during the World Cup and they didn’t want to miss a game). The location is really convenient to town and there is plenty of parking and turn around space on an easy, flat driveway. There are no stairs to enter the villa or get out to the pool. This was my first visit to St John. I was lucky enough to experience 3 of Island Abodes newly renovated suites. Honeymoon suite was awesome. I had a view of water and beautiful gardens.....even from the shower! I couldn't believe when I walked in, there was a welcome note from Brittany and Robert along with coffee for the Keurig, sunscreen, mosquito spray, umbrellas,a cooler, chairs and towels for the beach and a gallon of water to get started. The king bed was so comfy. A nice kitchen with everything you could need including a microwave and toaster oven. You could sit outside on the screened in porch or lounge on the beautiful deck. I also stayed in the Papaya suite which was under the Honeymoon suite in Sunset Serenade. It had all the amenities as Honeymoon even the awesome view from the shower. It also had a cute bar on the screened in porch to eat or drink your coffee while viewing the beautiful water and gardens. The last 3 nights I stayed in Down Yonder Villa. It was a fantastic 2 bedroom 2 bath home with a great kitchen and large den with a sofa sleeper. From all areas you had a view of the ocean, beautiful gardens and a great salt water pool. Again the house had all the previously mentioned amenities. All places were close to town, eating, and shopping. They all had TV, WiFi, and washer/dryer. I visited 3 different beautiful beaches(my favorite part) recommended by Brittany and Robert. The water and beaches were so much prettier than Florida. I can't wait to go back and visit 3 more! We absolutely loved our stay at Down Yonder! We stayed post hurricane Irma and Maria. My husband, 2.5 year old and myself were traveling and looking for something family friendly. We have stayed in rentals before with a child and this was by far the best experience! Brittany and Robert thought of everything! The home was baby proofed in the master bed, they left changing table, pregnancy pillow, baby toys, pack and play with extra mattress, baby towels, baby dinnerware, high chair...literally everything you use at home and would have needed was there! It was so thoughtful and thought out!! The home itself was also great for kids, didn’t have to worry about steps or dangerous corners. The pool was a must for us for evenings of staying home, being able to walk right out to the pool was great, the doors going out to the pool were heavy enough too that we didn’t have to worry about our daughter getting out!! That was such a comforting feeling!! My aunt and uncle live on island and had stayed a couple nights with us too. The space was perfect for our family and my aunt and uncle. All kitchen supplies you could need they had, even the condiments you always hate buying because you feel like you waste we’re already there!! Aside from the house there were beach toys, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas and coolers. Bug spray and sunscreen provided too!! The location was perfect! Close to town and easy access to the other side of the island. Literally anything you needed or could want was there! Brittany and Robert literally thought of everything!! Most house experiences we have stayed at were mediocre and had the bare minimum, this home and the hosts exceeded our expectations. While we didn’t need Brittany or Robert for anything during our stay they checked up on us via email a couple times to see if we needed anything. I’d recommend this home and these hosts a 1,000 over!! Thanks for such a wonderful experience!!read more

Just returned from a week at Down Yonder Pool Villa in March 2018 (post hurricane) and we can not wait for our next trip. We have rented many homes on our travels, on St John and other places, and this home was by far our favorite. We are a family of 4 with two kids aged 10 and 12 and this home’s layout was perfect for us. (We could have easily slept two more on the fold out sofa. ) This home is so well taken care of- clean and everything in good working order. You can tell it is managed by the home’s owners, not just a rental company. Every little touch was thought of. We loved the location- a stunning view, close enough to town, but just far enough away to be peaceful It does sit back from a road, but we did not find the road noise to be anything to note, just a car here and there. There are other homes nearby, but we felt like it was very private! On to the particulars…… Post Hurricane: We were unsure what to expect, but the island is ready for visitors. The beaches are still stunning, the trails are ready for hikers, and most stores and restaurants are open. (Not all, but plenty are!) The devastation to homes and parts of the island is heart wrenching, but every visitor helps the economy of the island- so go now!! Kitchen: I cook, and am typically disappointed with rentals because of lack of cooking supplies. Nothing worse than trying to make scrambled eggs in a old yucky pan.. This kitchen is equipped! Great blender, gas stove, a sharp knife, a nice selection of good pans, a crock pot, and a gas grill. Stocked with salt, pepper and olive oil. A keurig coffee machine with coffee, decaf, and green tea. (And a regular coffee pot in the cabinet) And of course, the kitchen has a great view! Bedrooms: Both king beds were super comfy and the air conditioning worked great. Cotton sheets (I am picky about this…) Plenty of closet and drawer space in each. Bathrooms: Both stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel. Sunscreen and bug spray provided. Lots of bath towels in each. The second bath has a full sized washer and dryer with detergent. The master shower has a big frosted window which you can slide open giving it an outdoor shower feel that we loved! Beach Stuff: I think I counted 8 big fluffy beach towels, light portable beach chairs, a beach umbrella, sand toys and two coolers We were set! Pool and patio area: The pool is clean and well maintained. Chaise loungers for sunning, a dining table and that big shaded circle chair… heaven. Landscape: The owners have put a lot of time and effort in to this. Even post hurricane, the landscaping is stunning. Wifi/TV: Worked great while we were there. Were able to find our team’s march madness game on sling tv Our verizon cell phones worked great at the house. Book keeping: I booked and paid on the Island Abodes website. Everything was smooth and easy and communication was excellent! Brittany emailed us a nice welcome packet with all the info we could need. Having been to the island before, the self check in process worked great for us. If you would feel more comfortable with an escort to the house from the ferry, you might mention that ahead of time. I honestly cannot think of a con for this house. (except that they wouldn’t let us just stay forever!) Many thanks to Brittany, Robert and RJ for their hospitality!read more

This was the perfect spot. Great for one or two people. Everything was really nicely done and clean. The pictures are very accurate. I loved having a king sized bed. The indoor living area was just enough and the outdoor area was spectacular! It is surrounded by lovely gardens and is very peaceful. With the ceiling fans outside and a breeze, I was able to comfortably sit out there in the middle of the day and read or work on my computer. Thank you for a wonderful stay on St John! We are frequent visitors to St John and usually visit with several other people. In February we had the opportunity to visit with just the two of us. Small (and less expensive), intimate and private accommodations are hard to find on island. We stayed at the Garden Suite. It was amazing. It is small and intimate yet had everything we needed (and wanted). It was close to town and the main road yet the vegetation made you feel like you were all alone surrounded by rustling leaves, birds and a gentle breeze. The patio was huge, had a chair for every mood and dining (and cooking) among the trees. Brittany was available and helpful when needed yet not intrusive. Next time we are on island as a couple we will look to stay at the Garden Suite!read more

We just returned from a long wedding weekend in St. John and consider ourselves lucky for finding the Honeymoon Suite at Sunset Serenade! We met both Brittany and Robert, the owners and managers, who were so kind and helpful. They have taken diligent care of the property, and Robert was there several times on the property tending to the landscaping. The photos don't do the place justice! The views from the deck were some of the best we found on the island and we found ourselves rushing to get back to the room by 6:15 for the sunset. I think the deck may be actually larger than the bedroom, a ratio which may be most important for finding a place to stay in the islands :) The place was spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable, and we had everything we needed and then some. Thank you Brittany and Robert, and we cannot WAIT to return again someday!read more

This is our second time staying with Island Abodes and it was great! The property had the perfect location (very close to downtown with bars and restaurants) and breath taking views. The property was very clean and exactly what we needed for our vacation. The best part of staying with Island Abodes is the owners are amazing and super accommodating and will go out of there way to make sure you have a great vacation. If it is your first time on the island, they will answer any questions you may have and prep you on what to expect once you arrive to the island. They truly are there for you throughout your trip in case anything comes up - southern hospitality at its best!read more

We stayed at the penthouse at Sunset Serenade for 14 days. After 12 years of going to St. John this was the best place that we ever stayed at. We felt like it was our own home. So comfortable and clean. Everything you need is there. Of course the view is something you see in travel brochures and you get to enjoy it everyday. Brittany and Robert go above and beyond in taking care of their guests. From the landscaping to the outside lighting to the beautiful view. Island Abodes is the place to stay.read more

We've been to St John 9 times, the Penthouse is easily the best place we have stayed! Whatever you picture it being like, multiply it by 10! The view is extraordinary, the comfort is spectacular, the deck is amazing and the host were GREAT! AMAZING!!!! Island abodes was a wonderful experience! My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite and it had the most incredible view of Cruz bay! It was the perfect size for two people! Cozy and romantic and breathtaking! Brittany and Robert are fantastic rental owners and have thought of everything. Anything we may have needed they were a step ahead - from binoculars, beach chairs, sunscreen, coolers, road maps- you name it. They made vacationing in a new place extremely easy. Brittany is so organized and I highly recommend this place for rental! No doubt we will be back! We loved St John and we LOVE ISLAND ABODES!!!read more

It had everything one would need both to stay at the house and go off to the fabulous beaches for the day. We made use of the cooler, beach mat and beach towels every day. Fantastic accommodations and hospitality! My husband and I stayed in the one bedroom apartment which also had a living space, full kitchen and private bathroom! We came to St John with two other couples who stayed upstairs in separate units. Perfect accommodations for hanging with your friends but having your own private space. We had the pleasure of staying at the Down Yonder Villa on our last trip to STJ. What a gem! Our group consisted of 2 families of 4 (4 children 3 and under) and the house was perfect. We loved that the master suites were on opposite sides of the villa to allow for plenty of privacy. We spent most of our time swimming in the beautiful pool. The view was awesome. We cooked at the villa for nearly every meal and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Robert and Brittany were fantastic hosts and promptly responded to any questions or requests we had. Can't wait to go back again soon!!!read more

My husband and I stayed in the 1 bedroom unit at Sunset Serenade last week. It was wonderful. Very clean, a comfy bed and had all the accommodations of home. We loved the beautiful view of Cruz Bay. Brittany and Robert were WONDERFUL hosts. While we were on the island we kept hearing horror stories from people we met about their accommodations from the places they were staying at. We kept telling them to visit the Island Abode website for their future visits. No complaints and WE WILL BE BACK.read more

In March my cousin and I took a girls trip with our kids for over a week to St. John. Our accommodations were amazing! Let me elaborate why. First of all the setting is gorgeous! Blue tranquil waters to cast your eyes at from any angle of Island Abodes. One step out onto the deck and you are in paradise. Flowers blooming, breezes blowing, roosters faintly heard in the distance and sailboats seen for miles. The units are nicely decorated and clean. Each have precision privacy so that no views are obscured, yet you aren't looking at other guests. The owners Brittany and Robert were so kind as to make sure we had everything we needed. Brittany checked us in, but later Robert came by to water plants outside and even left us some fresh papaya from his tree. When I mentioned that Thai green papaya salad would be amazing with fish. he immediately cut us another down. He offered us fresh herbs to use in our cooking and asked if we needed anything additional. We mentioned we could use a garlic press and blender half jokingly, and later that day he delivered not only those items, but several other specialty cooking items. The kitchens are stocked nicely!! My cousin is a professional chef and we were able to cook every dish with ease. The kids loved the indoor/outdoor floor plan. We spent most days at the beach and evenings on the patio. Brittany helped us book excursions while on the island and as a result we had an amazing time. On a side note, we had our best day on Honeymoon Beach kayaking, paddle-boarding, and playing on the beach. The beach hut smoothies are super yummy and staff charming. (I can't say the same for the staff at Caneel...) If you are considering a visit to St John, be sure to inquire about Island Abodes availability. We will definitely be back!!!!read more
